From pure Coding to Elementor

Coding vs. 'Pick-N-Drop'

Starting off with raw coding within Dreamweaver, plus getting to grips with it in a meaningful way, has been quite an experience. So I was ‘all up in arms’ and ready to take on WP, when the opportunity became available. However, I was quite surprised when founding out from a little birdie  by the name of Rino (LivingWithPixels), that there is actually a much more easier way to manage my WP site – ManageWP (managed by GoDaddy since 2016) and I have not been dissapointed, not even once with this resource.

Using ManageWP

Starting off with three simultaneous projects,  required logging into each one of the sites; constantly going back and forth amongst the different sites! But with ManageWP, I have just the one login to  gain access to all sites in one place – problem solved! (e.g.  from optimization, backup, google analytics and the list goes on). I also recently found out that I can go into ManageWP multiple times into the same site even with the dashboard within WP open. Yes, it sounds weird but I have had to result to this due to a bug that I experienced in WP that automatically logs me out whilst working on ‘responsiveness’ within my pages – anyone experienced this? if so, drop me a line as to what you did to resolve the problem. Maybe I might be doing something wrong – still drop me a line, would love to know.

Usability Testing: Hotjar Plugin with Elementor

Personally, this is one of the very core issues of  aspects of UI/UX and product design, without set quality assurance ‘checks and balances’, there will certainly be a durability and usability issue. At the end of the day products and ‘their’ designs are made for the purpose of its respective users, anything outside of this really is irrelevant.

So, how is Hotjar with Elementor?

Hotjar, is quite an amazing site evaluation tool in terms of gathering users views/ thoughts whilst interacting with a website (e.g. heatmaps, recordings (especially for remote evaluations) and surveys feedback.  It is available via subscription and is easy to set up online. What really drew me to it initially,  is the fact that the trial is available in business mode, giving subscribers full access to its various resources and then after the trial you automatically get dropped to the free version (i.e. Basic) which is still pretty good for a small to medium site.

Right now, I have been using the Hotjar’s  free trial for my personal site (this site) and it works for me (e.g. I get Manual Data Capture, up to 300 Recordings,  so it really depends on individual needs. One of the great things that I have realized whilst developing my website and using Hotjar, is that the areas that need development are highlighted via heat maps (I get to capture at least 3 heatmaps)  as to reading through copious amounts of data that can be easily misinterpreted.

Any Issues?

You might be wondering if things have been going so well with Hotjar then  why have you not seen it since you have been browsing my site. Well, that brings me to the one snag that I have come across, not in Elementor but with underlying WP plugin.

My site design just froze making it virtually impossible to scroll or continue with site updates. After trying everything possible (e.g. clearing cache in both WP and PC), but nothing worked. As a result, I have had to uninstall (for now) and re-connect back after site design is complete and liaised with Hotjar’s technical support.

Do you have any experience with Hotjar? if yes, I would love to hear of your experiences or maybe you have technical issues, don’t  be a stranger, drop me a line. Remember, the blog is to reach out and engage with other UI/UX, Web Designers/Developers, coders etc to learn and share.

WooCommerce Plugin with Elementor

If you have been following my project  you would know the main purpose for incorporating WooCommerce in its design.  If you are new to my blog, welcome.  WooCommerce is a very well  known platform tool in webdesign widely used for a purchasing and selling of goods and products. – in this case, for the purchase of establishing a restaurant online purchasing system (food and drinks).

Why WooCommerce?

If you have been following my project  you would know the main purpose for incorporating WooCommerce in its design.  If you are new to my blog,, welcome.  WooCommerce is a very well  known platform tool in webdesign widely used for a purchasing and selling of goods and products. – in this case, for the purchase of establishing a restaurant online purchasing system (food and drinks).

Lesson Learnt & Alternative Options

Before I go any further, my lesson to share with you is that if you have an existing Elementor site, NOT to incorporate on that SAME SITE,  a WooCommerce plugin. Why? because,  it will completely override the existing theme that you have and replace with your chosen WooCommerce theme. I learnt this lesson very early on in my design practice.

I created a dedicated WooCommerce site and place a link to point directly and from your standard elementor site specific page. Now this is just my personal approach and when it comes to webdesign there is always more than one way to accomplish things.

Are/have you incorporated WooCommerce into your elementor site design? what approach worked /s best for you? I would love to hear from you.  You can share your thoughts/experiences in our comments section.

Till the next blog.
